Library Homebound and Outreach Services
The Wichita Public Library offers several services to provide community members easier access to information.
Homebound Book Service
We provide various methods to help those who are elderly or disabled and cannot get to the Library the capability to check out books and other materials. Call 261-8500 for more information or assistance.
Is your facility looking to borrow a collection of books for an extended period? We can provide schools, senior resident facilities, child care centers and summer camps with reading materials for your group. Call 261-8500 for senior group requests, and 261-8568 for youth services requests.
We can bring storytimes to you! Our Youth Outreach Librarian visits preschools, home child care centers and other youth sites that are unable to transport children to storytimes at our libraries. Call 261-8568 or fill out a service request.
Community Booth Events
Invite us to your Parents Night, Book Fair, Wellness Fair or other community gathering. We will staff our booth to help your group learn about the free benefits of the Library system. We may also be able to issue library cards at your location. Call 261-8568 for more information.
Talking Book Service
Talking Book service, or library service for the blind and physically handicapped, is handled by the State Library of Kansas. Call (800) 362-0699 for information.
